Beechfield Experimental School...
Paul Barter Roger Bodenham
on the roof for some reason!

...the children came to us and we delivered lessons in front of tutors and fellow students. Some tutors also 'performed'. I particularly remember Edward Malins singing at the piano. He taught English - compulsory for intending teachers, he mainly read us humorous short stories! Drama at Monks Park was also part of the teaching course.

.

"Keith Witts and Chris Watson owned two of the rare student cars at Corsham. A lift from Chris usually involved a wait at the kerbside while he walked up the road with an empty petrol can! I often travelled on the back of Roger Bodenham's motor cycle combination. He had been in the Kenya police and felt the cold so badly he slept with a carpet on his bed at his lodgings. He married another student and they moved into their own cottage nearby. When I stayed there one night after leaving Corsham, my bed was in the middle of a room, (because of the damp), and I was given a gun to defend myself with! We remained in touch until he moved back to Africa a few years later.
I could easily write a book about some of the students at that time. As a typical anecdote there was an occasion when we were presenting the outcome of some project in front of Clifford Ellis on 'Design Day'.
Fred had forgotten to bring his work and hurriedly rushed to his room in Beechfield House. He staggered back with an enormous suitcase and amid great expectation opened it to reveal his... dirty washing - it would seem he owned two identical cases! Those certainly were the days".
.

"Most people will remember the jukebox in the basement at Corsham Court".
If you have any idea where it came from, Bruce would like to know, as he hasn't the "faintest". I wonder what ever happened to it, did it end up in the infamous 'Biker Cafe'?
