Henry Mundy b. 1919 (BAA 1958-66) Born in Birkenhead. 1933-37 Laird School of Art, Birkenhead. 1946-50 Camberwell School of Art. 1951-58 worked AIA Gallery, shared post with Gillian Ayres whom he later married. 1957 first one-man exhibition Gallery One. Introduced to Clifford Ellis by Adrian Heath; began to teach BAA 1958, part-time travelling from London two days a week; took Saturday morning life classes. 1960 first of several one-man exhibitions, Hanover Gallery; 1961 received first prize, Carnegie International Exhibition and first prize John Moore’s Liverpool exhibition; 1963 exhibited in major group exhibitions including British Painting in The Sixties, Tate Gallery; 1964 Painting and Sculpture of a Decade 54-64, Tate Gallery and Internationale der Zeichnung, Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt.
