Michael Kidner

Born in Kettering. 1936-39 University of Cambridge, degree
in History and Anthropology. 1940-41 Ohio State University.
1941-46 Canadian Army. 1947 Goldsmiths, College of Art.
1953 began painting full-time. 1953-57 Atelier André
L’Hôte, Paris. 1959 first one-man exhibition St Hilda’s
College. Oxford. 1960 one-man exhibition AIA Gallery.
1963-64 taught Leicester Polytechnic, part-time. began
teaching BAA also part-time. 1965 The Responsive Eve
MOMA, New York and John Moores Liverpool Exhibition.
Artist in Residence, University of Sussex. 1967 one-man
exhibition Axiom Gallery. 1968 taught American University,
Washington DC. Several one-man group exhibitions
including 1972 Systems Whitechapel Art Gallery; 1977 British
Painting 1952-77
Royal Academy of Arts; 1978 Constructive
Context
Warehouse Gallery (Arts Council travelling
exhibition). 1978/79 published Elastic Membrance with Jack
Shereff. 1981-84 taught Chelsea School of Art. 1984
retrospective Serpentine Gallery (Arts Council). 1985 Works
