Margaret Lester Garland
l893-1976 (BAA 1946-1958)


Born in Oxford. 1925-27 Royal College of Art, Design
School, met Helen Binyon. Exhibited with the New English
Art Club during 1930’s and executed mural in Holy Trinity
Church, Bath, later destroyed during War. Exhibited with
Bath Society of Artists from c. 1936 where met C & R Ellis.
After War taught briefly at Bath Art School then BAA from
1946 (taught drawing). 1940’s exhibited Arcade Gallery,
London and Barber Institute, Birmingham. 1950’s retired
BAA, continued to live and work in Bath. 1973 one-man
exhibition, paintings from The 20s and 30s Leva Gallery,
London. Exhibition of her work organised by John Eaves and
BAA students, Sydney Place, Bath c. 1978, another arranged
by Helen Binyon, David Paul Gallery. Chichester 1978.
