Gillian Ayres b. 1930 (BAA 1959-66)
Born in London. 1946-50 Camberwell School of Art. From
1951 worked AIA Gallery. shared post with Henry Mundy
whom she later married; met Roger Hilton. 1956 first one-
man exhibition Gallery One. 1957 first large scale work,
painted mural for South Hampstead High School (now
destroyed); arranged Paintings Without Paint exhibition with
Adrian Heath. Taught BAA 2 days a week from 1959,
travelled from London. 1960 Situation RBA Galleries; 1963
