Last month Gordon Brown, on his first visit to India and to the British Council office in New Delhi announced the successful applicants in the first round of research awards under the UK-India Education and Research Initiative. These awards support collaboration between UK and Indian research teams in areas of interest and benefit to both countries and have four corporate champions in BAE, BP, Glaxo Smithkline and Shell. A total of over £ 5 million was awarded to teams from over 70 institutions in UK and India for innovative research areas such as environmentally friendly aeroplanes, climate change and human genetic make-up. Indelible Ink - A Season of Seeing

An exhibition of collages and paintings inspired by Indian images and colours by British artist Peter John Wells from Friday, 9 February to Thursday, 22 February. Peter will introduce in image, text and sound South Indian deities and British peculiarities such as Rhubarb. Inauguration will be on 8 February at 4:30 p.m. at British Council.
